I had a cam reground once, a solid lifter set up for a dodge. I ended up spending more money because I had to buy a pushrod kit to make up for the smaller base circle. I didn't have any problems with wear though.

I have had several ground for pulling tractors. You want the profile changed in that case. As for regrinding a stock cam,I personally can't see why you would, Too Expensive. You can buy a new cam for less money.
