why two diff 6 volt round coil from NAPA

I see NAPA sells IC7 and IC7SB. Both are 6 volt. The SB says wo external resistor. Is the only diff primary resistance? If so can you find out what the resistance is before purchacing?

f you find a decent parts person at NAPA who knows the paper catalogs vs just computer, they can look up the coil specifics. I have stood there beside them & read the coil resistance specs in their catalogs. The SB (I think means Simple Black) is their so called 2nd line product, but for sure it means cheaper cost (~$18) than the non SB or 1st line ($50) coils. I believe the electrical characteristics are the same. Guarantee likely shorter.

Steve........WHY do you think you need to know the resistance of a 6-volt rated round can ignition coil??? Iff'n yer trying to run it on a 12V ignition system, buy their 12V rated coil and fergitt about resistance. ........sheesh, respectfully, Dell, sparkie-meister

asy there, Trigger....maybe it is "want" instead of "need".
And one should always verify, since many coils are marked.marked as 12v, when they may have resistances from 1/2 Ohm to over 4 Ohms and that results in a huge current range from work to burns up something!

The SB in the Napa ignition line stands for "Silverline Boxed" it is their second line. years ago the difference was as an example distributor caps had aluminum contact Vs brass and the plastic material hand less resistance to carbon tracking as the premium line.
