8n split behind trans

MI-B ill

I am getting ready to switch rear differential/axles based on recommendations from this board. It appears that splitting the 8n behind the trans is a simple task once supports are worked out. Questions; what is necessary for reassembling. Prelims; pull PTO shaft? pull drop hyd. pump? pull side covers? Replace Gaskets. Any other parts likely needed? Thanks Bill in SW Mi

Be sure it is level front to back before splitting makes it push together much more easily. Drain the oil. drive wedges in between front axle and front frame so that the front doesn't flop over.

Had to go back and find that post... Its your call but it is a EZ swap to swap the trumpets as a assembly (No messing with axles, seals and brakes).. Either will depend on were and the equipment you have on hand to make the swap...

I would be interested in seeing exactly how that
tongue dolly is mounted to the tractor. Thanks

Overkill as usual... Look'n at the pix I may cut the crank handle off and weld a nut on it so I can crank it with a ratchet  I had to move it forward so the crank handle would clear the fender...
