Found the three wire kit - I think

there does appear to be a wire with a crimp connector going to one of the spades. hopefull #2.. and if a 3 wire.. then you would need a wire going to #1 from ignition, thru an isolation device.

Kool...now on to something else someone mentioned...I see even the alternators in the one-wire kit have a little black cover over the place where the two spade plug would go...would it be as simple uncovering that port to make the three wire mod?

ost of the time, yes......but there will be exceptions.

On the 1 wire type I have found you have about a 50/50 chance you can pull that terminal cover off and make it a 3 wire. I have a one wire on my 1950 side mount 8N and I pulled the cover off and tries it and it does not change a thing. But on that note a friend had one on a 9N/8N mutt and I tried it and was able to turn it into a 3 wire

i mentioned this to you previously that some, but not all 1 wire jobs may function as 3 wire, if hooked up as 3 wire.

Yes it was you :) I couldn't remember and was too lazy to get out of post mode to confirm.

Thanks again to you and the other guys...

So I found a kit a lot cheaper w/the same part number as tisco but it doesn't show the same pic and you can't tell if the wire is there from the pic.

So...I took one for the team and bought it from Tisco...and paid for it through the nose.
If it shows up as a 1-wire the rubber-band might break - and I'll have learned once again to listen to you guys(about just making the conversion myself).

you may also find that many of the 'pics' of those kits are merely stock photo's and the product differes from what is pictured.

when you get it.. start her up and keep at low idle.. like 500 rpm and watch ammeter.. and then apply power to #1 terminal.. ( have power on 2 as well ).. if ammeter comes to life.. she will function as 3 wire. many of these actually have the #2 connection internally.. but never hurts to add it anyway..

Not trying to rub it in but this site sells the mounting brackets separately for both front and side mounts plus the correct pully. Then a quick trip to radio shack and your local parts store for the diode and alternator.......
