Rectifier Install and Generator Output

I just installed a full wave bridge rectifier on my 6 Volt Pos ground 9N. I hooked the negative terminal to the generator and one of the AC terminals to the battery as described on earlier posts (thanks!) I am getting a reasonable charge rate measured at the battery. I then checked the generator output by having the red prove on battery ground and then touching the black probe on my digital multimeter to the one wire 3 brush generator output. At idle i get 10-11 volts and up to 20 volts at higher RPMs. I was expecting something more like 7-8 volts max, although I have to admit that I didn't check it with the original cut out. Suggestions?

ogus reading of the digital meter in an electrically noisy environment. Analog meter needed. A better reading at battery because battery acts like a BIG filter capacitor.

I will see if I can borrow an analog one or maybe pick one up. If I am seeing the voltage at the battery increase from 5.7 to 6.7 or so with the engine running, is it likely that there is anything wrong generator wise?

ooks like generator OK & 6.7 will likely increase with longer run time. If battery begins to overcharge, remember that you have the HI/LO adjust on rear of generator to back it off.
