I found an ad in the local CL for a bunch of new and used 9N parts. I called the guy up - told him I could come up the following day to look at the parts. He offered to bring them the 40 miles to me that evening.

When he arrived, his stash of parts was incredible. He'd sold his 9N a few years and the buyer didn't want all of the parts. It included radius rods, tie rods, a manifold, steering wheel, hood, dog legs, grill, a whole box full of diffy gears, as well as various new tune-up parts. All the new cardboard boxes said Yesterday's Tractors...

He made my day, and I told him so. I gave him his asking price, which clearly made his too.

congrats on the great deal! you can't beat having it all delivered, either. did you need most of them, or are they back-ups?

now you've got that all-important excuse for the wife when you buy another tractor! (well, shoot, honey, i've got so many parts now i really should do the right thing and get a tractor to put them on! don't want them to lay around and get damaged or anything) ;)

when i sold my 3pt. disc harrow a couple weeks ago, i offered to deliver it, which was 27 miles one way from my house. the gentleman was older and after we unloaded it, he said he wouldn't have bought it if i hadn't delivered it. because of his health, he couldn't have loaded it onto the trailer and unloaded it without me being there. it was actually a plus for me too, because i needed goat feed and he met me at the feed store where i buy it.
 
Quite a few parts will go towards the '50 8N, and some more will go to the '40 9N. The rest I'll just hang onto until needed.

Sometimes that little extra bit of service, when you're selling something, is a really nice thing.

Colin, what about that manifold? Do you need it?

Let me know. Been pretty busy, was chasing cows at 3:30AM. Wish I had seen that ad first!

Yea Colin I am. I'll try to give you a call in the next day or so, pretty busy right now. Gotta replace the MVC pump on the 1206 IH tomorrow.
