OT: New Engine headed my way

If you read my previous post. "Brand NEW 8N Engine for sale?"
(Which I discovered was a Bad example. Seems the Chinese are
making NEW 'N' engines. Who would had thought? Still waiting
to hear from someone that has bought one. If they are making
them. Someone is buying them.) Any way, back to the subject. I
got the new engine on the way to it new home. I didn't give out
much information before as to what type engine it is because I
didn't someone reading my post and buying it out from under
me. I checked on over hauling the engine I have which is
rebuildable. Basic kit with new pistons is $1170. New rod which
I would need one $60. Not sure if i would had needed a new
crank, but since it hard throw a rod, good chance it would need
one, $300. Plus I would then need the machine work done and
put back together by someone or myself. They had a good
running engine but not rebuilt at Zimmermans in PA, bare long
block,No intake, starter or nothen, $1500. All the prices are
plus shipping. I had called a local machine shop last week. They
said they wold get let me know a price that day or the next.
Never heard back. Called him today. He said he would get back
with me by the end of today. He was still checking on parts.
Haven't heard back.
I think I got a good deal. A new carburetor along by the time
you pay shipping is around $300. Plus the guy had added a
water pump. Would you believe these engines where used with
out one? Something about the transfer of heat to cold would
cause the water to flow on its own. Crazy if he ask me. But it
must hard worked to some degree. People with them today
recommend adding the water pump.
But, good news if you are needing a similar engine. I was told an
Isuzu 2,2 diesel will work. These engines where use in Referrer
trailers and are no longer legal in California. So they are being
pulled out and replace with new engines. Look around you might
find one cheap. Two where sold in Waterloo, Il for two hundred
each. This engine I bought was used in jeeps, John Deeres, Avery
and more. Maybe that information might help someone. Isuzu
2.2 was also used in the Volkswagen Rabbit. I have only heard
good things about them.
Check out the Link below to see the engine. If the link don't
work, I don't know if it will work on a sold item. If not enter 251191821297 in the Ebay search and that should work

Hercules Engine

Appears you have a loader frame but with a dozier blade on it like the HG I have. Sort of funny to have a dozier blade that goes 10-12 foot in the air.

I decided to re include the link I had added before since by the time I had added it it was an old post and I think most people missed it. Zane didn't miss it. I really enjoyed your story about your trip on the Cushman Scooter. You are not still that crazy are you? What a trip. I would recommend every one going back down to the original post and reading his story. Or maybe he will repost it here. Great story.
The Link below is a very interesting story. I believe a lots of folks here will enjoy it. You really should check it out. Hope you enjoy it.
Zane, I have a '59 Allstate Scooter now. Trying to free up the engine. But unlike yours mine was made by Piaggio. Same people that make the Vespa. Like yours, Sears just put the Allstate name on all they sold.
Who Saved The Cushman Scooter?

It came with the loader bucket too. Believe the frame is called a 'Ware'. It's really considered more of a Farm Tractor on tracks than a Dozer

By the way, Did the link to the engine work OK for you? When I go to it it says "You bought this item /view order details" So I don't know how it will work when others try to go there?

Ya the Hercule's engine is not known to be a power house and as a matter of fact your lucky if it will slip a track. The loader I have on my HG42 is also a Ware but Ware is a common brand on the Cletracs. As for the link I did not try going to it since I am on dial up links always take a very long time to load. I put an Oliver 60 engine in my HG so it would have enough power to do some real work with the dozier blade

I gave the local Vo-Teck an old Sears motorcycle back when my son was still in school and most likely very close to what you have.

link to engine works however cant enlarge as post has ended

Yes, you can enlarge the pictures, you just don't know how. You have to click on See original listing above the little picture.

This engine should be a little more powerful than the original.
Cletrac's came with an IXK. This one is an IXB. While both were made from the same block, the IXK had a bore size of 3 1/8". The IXB had a bore size of 3 1/4". I don't know how much more Horses that gives me. In cubic inches the IXK is 113ci while the IXB is 133ci. I didn't want to go way over the original power. I'd likely tear out the drive train. Was cubic inch is the motor you put in?

Farmall A"s and Cubs used the thermosiphon system with no water pump for years. The only draw back was the mixture for the coolant. To much antifreeze and the mixture would not flow, then the tractor would over heat. I have never had any of my A"s overheat even on the hot days working hard.

that the second one i saw. in last two year where 172 motor in it.. i saw south Sacramento it ran they wanted 5,000 dollar for it and it was green look like one but was complete tractor..

I take it you are talking about the Ford 172 Red Tiger Engine ?
I check measurements to put an "N" in it. To get it in I would had to cut and modify the frame. Down at the oil pan level you only have a 14.5 inch clearance. While I could do that I would prefer a bolt in job. I had been told of serval engines that could be made to work. But no one I found could tell me what it would take to get it in. The guy I got the tractor from wanted to put in a 6 cylinder Toyota Diesel engine. Some one had told him that would work. Maybe so, but sounds like it would have been over powered to me. And no telling what it would take to get it in. From what I've been told to do Dozer work the main thing you need is a 'Step Down" Transmission.

Ya they used the IXB in the OC-3 which at one time I also had and it too lacked the power you needed to slip a track. The OC-3 I had also had a ware loader on it with a pretty good size bucket on it. As for the cubic inches of a 60 I do not know I do know it has a bore of 3-5/16 and as per the NEB yest the Oliver 60 had just under 19HP

all i saying is what saw and was told in elk grove.. same tractor it was on Craigslist list 6 plus month ago..and it was running .. that all i knew

I looked the Oliver 60 engine. Said it has a 120.6 ci. A "N" engine is 120 ci. This cletrac came with 113 ci. The new engine has 133 ci. You think maybe your old engine may had just been worn and had loss power? Wonder why Cletrac went with 113ci when all the other (same) blocks were bored to 133ci.
I'm not saying your 60 engine doesn't have more power than mine with 12.4 more cubic inches. We all know there are ways to increase the power of an engine with out changing the cubic inches. But the manufacturer built them for years with the smaller engine. Seems the new buyers would had complained about the lack of power. And then the Military liked the hercules engine. They used them for years. I've heard a lots of people talk good of the Hercules engine. Term used alots is "Bullet Proof"
I hope I don't find I don't like it.

Part of the problem it the Hercules engines are flat heads and you know how a flat head is a low compression engine so that most of the time means lower HP. The reason the Military liked them is because they where a simple engine as in most any body could make then run and yes as long as you had gas and oil most of the time they did run and when you had to count on it the military could most of the time. That all said the Cletrac crawlers where never made to have a loader or dozier on that all that was aftermarket stuff that lead to many other problems
