Q - What is the top link for?? Is it supposed to be adjusted to where it is always tight or always loose?

Thanks for your help. Surfed but couldn’t find answer. Soon as I win Texas lottery gonna take it to Zane to adjust !! May get rid of weak sister switch as soon as I find a marine the right size!

You made me laugh it never mattered how I had the top link adjusted and what I had stuck on. The back of the tractor Grandaddy would always stop me and turn it afew turns left than right!
The first time I ever used his tractor to spread out the gravel where the kids had tore it up doing doughnuts in the gravel around his shop, he came across the road from his house stops me and says " Hey Bart you got the blade on that tractor backwards"
I looked back at the six foot blade behind me with the blade cup faceing the back tires looked back at him as seriously as I could and asked him " Grandaddy do I have it on the right end of the tractor?"
Boy he laughed said he would make a farmer outta of a Polock yet!
I learned from him that day with the blade cupped away from the rear tires it drug the gravel out smoothly and did not dig it up.
Sure miss that old man I have plenty to learn from him.

That's a great story! Thanks for sharing. It's nice to have memories like that. My Grandpa also would always check my work...it wasn't that he didn't trust me...but more of a "I'll just make sure everything is alright" kind of thing.

Thanks Bart. Guess I will have to quit worrying about that top link, working as is.

I like those old stories. My father-in-law always assumed I knew as much about tractors as he did - nope, second thought, just the other war around!

Unfortunately he passed to the other side way before I could learn as much as I needed from him. For a favorite story ck Your Stories, then search for Livingston.

Thanks Bruce for pointing out the list. Trying to "adjust" the top link I realized both beasts have limiter chains, I was fighting them too and they were not giving up any points!
