Ihave in my shop a 9n with a serial #34 on the block, Is this # for real ???? Also would like to know if there was markings on flywheel for thimming?

does it have no prefix or a 9n prefix?

no timing marks on a front mount flywheel. no way to see them.. :)

Was there room on the side of the cylinder head for the oil filter canister to mount or was it mounted on the side of the battery tray? There should be a number stamped into the dash reinforcement in front of the upper steering column where the patent plate is on later tractors and should be a number less than 100. The gear lever should have a screw on knob. Click on my name to email to verify some other items.

Would love to see pictures. In the meantime you can study John Smith's web site and see if your 9N has some of the early 9N characteristics.
