9n draft lever abnormal operation

Hi guys, I'm having a problem with my 9n draft lever springing upwards from the all the way down position. It happens every time with the tractor running or off. I havent taken anything apart yet, not exactly sure what to look for anyway.

also it should be noted this problem started when I was using a heavy blade. I lowered the draft lever and the blade did not lower on the first attempt (took several fully up/down throws of the lever). ever since then the lever springs back up to the halfway position!

lifting capacity does not seem to be affected.

any suggestions on where to start?
Thanks

I assume you're talking about the touch control lever on your right side.
There is a friction disk behind it made out of cork like material that holds it in place.
Is yours in good shape?

Take the side cover off so you can view the "Forks" that control the lift valve. Stick your hand in the oil (tractor turned off) and feel if there is movement of the valve at the bottom of the fork in the oil , when moving the "draft control lever". Could be as simple as "a stuck valve" (unstick). Snapping back indicates spring on fork is working. There is a compression spring, nut, gasket, where the draft control lever fits on the draft control shaft. Tighten the compression nut. If no movement then the mechnanism might be "frooze up" Try simple methods first to spray, oil, attf etc to free up. Light tapiping (piece is aluminin and can break easily by pounding and prying.

The 9N and 2N do not have a draft/position control lever but do have the lift control lever. From what you say you may have a sticking control valve inside on the hyd pump and the only way to be sure is to pop the right side inspection cover off and have look see what is going on

good call guys; found the cotter pin missing from the castle nut on the shaft, tightned 1/2 turn, installed new cotter pin. bingo, lol

thanks again
