Hey Guys-
The best method to get all that crud dissolved is to let everything soak in white vinegar, completely submerged, for at least two weeks. Check on level every few days as it may evaporate. The majoroty of rust and dirt will dissolve but you will still need to go thru with a brass brush or old toothbrush. Rinse good in mineral spirits bath or let soak for a few days in carb cleaner and then proceed to go through teh fine passages. Don't drill out any orrifices or you muck up the whole thing. Use compressed air to blow off frequently. Sandblsting is a no-no or at laest a last resort -you can easily get a grain of sand wedged in a passage -fine hole is only 1mm in diameter. I have done basket cases and the carbs are back in service today...
