Charcoal lighter, diesel fuel, kerosene, WD-40, Go-Jo, mineral spirits/turpentine, Goof Off, enamel thinner, etc....
If the sap has hardened, apply any of the above products and allow them to soak and loosen it up.

thinner" is the generic name for enamel reducer.
To a painter, "thinner" means lacquer thinner,
unless further defined. I once told a friend to
use paint thinner for tar removal on the lower
parts of his car with original factory paint. His
wife wouldn't let him.
As far as I know original factory paint would
stand up to even lacquer thinner. Of course, I
would not recommend that.
