square can coil nut

Hi yall again, earlier today I was going to check the gap on my points, as I was loosening the ignition wire on top of the square can coil, the nut fell into the vast abyss around the front of the engine never to be seen again, yes this is a front mount 8n. Now my question is, is the nut/stud a common size or is this a specialty size?

Parts book says its an ordinary 10-32 machine screw thread.

Wow! What took you guys so long???? lol. I just walked outside for a minute and you guys came through again! Once again thank you for being there for people like me that are at times, all thumbs.
 
There is a hole in the front support. I try to keep mine clean just to be able to find things I drop in there. I found many nuts, washers, etc. in mine. HTH

I knew I should have patented that move , I do it all the time , the two nuts holding the ft mt distributor in too , I always drop them when re-installing them.

Trust me, that area is clean now! I used compressed air and water out of a straight-stream nozzle, never did find the nut. hmmmm!
Went down to the neighborhood A.H. cost every bit of 18 cents, incl. tax!!! :>)
 
Solve your problem in the future by cutting the end off the circular wire connector and make it a fork type. No more nut removal necessary.
 
I like that idea! I'm trying to trace a starting issue, so if I need to take the connector loose again --- it's a gonner!
