Would it be common to have to file the timing slot to be able to get the 1/4" measurement? To get the right timing the concave screw is now off centre of the hole, not touching but not leaving much room for the tapered spring? Maybe I have overlooked something? bearings seem OK as no visible slop ???? Thanks |

| " Would it be common to have to file the timing slot to be able to get the 1/4" measurement? " No. Make sure you have the locking C clamp positioned correctly, as in the picture. Were you able to easily tell the wide side of the tang from the narrow side? Did you set the points gap before you set the timing? |

| set points at .015 before setting timing, got new points because thought maybe the old ones were worn too much, no difference and the wide side of the engaging tang is readily noticeable, have the "C" shaped circlip installed as shown ??? |

| Quoting Removed, click Modern View to seeIt is imperative that you set it by rotating in correct direction. Turn in wrong direction & you can not get the desired setting.

| Brass screw should be pretty well centered when the timing is correct. Sure you have the straight edge on the correct side of the tang?? |
