have question replacing front wheel seals. how tight do you tighten front spindle nut. hub does not spin like a trailor hub does when tightning thankyou rj in wyo

RJ,

The nut you're referring to is the castle nut in the hub? Finger tight is all that you really need. You're looking to eliminate visible wobble, so tighten until the rim/hub feel good and firm. I tighten mine until I feel just a little drag when you spin the wheel.

Typically, tighten the nut to ten foot lbs. while rotating the hub. That seats the bearing. back off until loose and, using your fingers, tighten the nut and install a new cotter key. Better a little loose than a little tight on the cotter key hole selection. Tapered rollers need preload. Gerard
