No oil to rocker arm shaft top for valve tappets

53 Jubilee new rod and main bearings and ground valves. It runs but no oil to top of engine, has 35 to 40 lbs of oil pressure when running but no oil to top of engine. what is wrong? I am completely baffled, this can't be possible.
 
Did it have new cam bearings installed in the block?If it did maybe the hole in the center cam bearing is not lined up correctly.Are all the galley plugs put back in the block? It takes a little run time for the oil to get to the rocker shaft.If I remember the center cam journal has a slot in it for oiling the rocker shaft. If it has good oil pressure when running,use a oil squirt can to oil the rocker arms and push rods while letting the engine run awhile so see if it will start oiling the rocker shaft.
 
There appears to be a steel tube that carries oil from the iron cylinder head to the rocker arms......check to see if it is plugged and also determine if oil gets to the head casting when tube is removed.....can you run a small wire down into the head to see if the head gasket hole is lined-up in the right place to allow oil from the cam bearing to get up to the head?
The parts book does not show cam bearings in the engine, so if there are none and if the problem is excessive clearance between cam journal and the bearing surface in the block, you may need to run an external oil line (tube) from some location to the rocker arm. This external oil tube installation was commonly done to get oil to the rocker arms of '54-'62 Y-block V-8 fords in the event that cam bearings become too worn to allow oil to get up to the heads.

when reassembling the head/rocker arm shaft/pushrods,
the oil feed tube must be pressed back in firmly in its lower hole.
there is also a seal on the bottom of the tube.
go to a parts diagram, Messicks, etc

There are no cam bushings in a 134 ci engine in the Ford tractor

I suspect that the bottom of the oil tube is not in the hole in the oil gallery down on the block over the camshaft.

Even when everything is installed correctly the oil supply to the rocker arms is a pulsating supply because the oil only gets into the tube when the cam shaft turns to the place with the oil gallery lined up with the hole in the block.

I would try blowing through the tube with air and also make sure the opening in the oil gallery is not blocked by crud.

There are no cam bushings in a 134 ci engine in the Ford tractor.

Did it have new cam bearings installed in the block?

I know that they did not come with cam bearings,but It could have them now after 59 years and numerous rebuilds.
 
I should have asked you folks when i first had the problem, all of you zeroed in om the cam and oil tube location and I noticed when I tore it down they had a "rudy goldburg" gasket/seal around it I just tossed it and used the little bitty seal. I found the tube had come out of the seat plenty of oil but not in tube, fabricated a seal from an old rv seal and then had oil. Thanks, this is a great forum and some darn smart people answering questions. Dick
 
I've been working on Ford tractors since I was 15 years old and have never seen one with cam bearings new or old???? I am now 77.
