8N pie weight value?

You can find a set i think for a little less than a dollar a pound in as taken off condition but by the time you sand blast, prime and paint them no to mention going over all of the mounting hardware and refinishing them you have got a lot of time and work in them not to mention handling all of them at least five or six times per each. Sure would be nice just to put them on and not have to do all this. You are just about sure you will get a mashed finger before it is finished.

Ford pie weight sets were never intended for 8N tractors.

That said: The going rate for a COMPLETE set of unrestored Ford pie weights is around $550-$650, depending upon design.

Proper sandblasting, priming and painting of ALL parts adds $400+.

I know that the pie weights were never intended for usage on the 8N but a lot of people sure use them. Most all 8N with front loaders have even the larger pie weights on them. Having said this will some of you comment of the potential damage that can be caused from using them. I'm not talking about pulling two 14's in hard ground day after day but using them as i do simply because i like the look of them. Thank you for response.

The dead weight is not the issue.

Increased traction in conjunction with abuse is.

The pinion bearing support is the weak link in the N design and will fail if abused. Increased traction makes such abuse possible in more situations.

If you find a set, make sure you get the mounting studs. I had taken my weight set off years ago then decided to mount them on a different tractor last summer. As my luck goes, I couldn"t find them. I got lucky and bought a non runner at a sale that had the studs but no weights. Replacement studs can run around $10. apeace , if you can find them. One of our regular contributors can make them on contract if you find a good deal on a set that is missing them.

Thank you for a good answer to the weight question. I think this will be a somewhat non issue for what i will be using it for. I can and would also make the mounting studs if new owners dont get them with the weights.
