Today while rummaging around in one of my parts piles I saw where I had taken a #80 roller chain apart several months ago and had some left over parts. I never throw away left over parts! Might find a use for them???
Anyway the pins from the #80 chain looked a lot like the dowel pins I buy fof my 8N lift adjusting jigs etc. So I got out my digital caliper and measured one against an original cam follower pin. The original one is .309 and the pins out of the chain are .311. So I think that in a pinch the pins out of a #80 roller chain could be used for the cam pin. Would have to cut it down because the roller pin is about 1-1/4" or so lond with a hole in one end.
The pins are hardened too.
