Help: I"ve caused myself a problem while trying to remove the idle jet on an MS TSX 241 carburator. I was careful to use a screwdriver that fitted the slot in the jet, but alas the slot is gone. Any suggestions on how to proceed? I"m inclined to try to use a small "left hand" twist drill in hopes that it will back out the jet. Or a small easy out. Will applying heat ease the problem? My tactor is a 1948 8N with a front mount dist. I apperciate any suggestions and thank you in advance

f it still has correct size hole in it, leave it alone, before you ruin the carb. An old hole works the same as a new hole....in a carb jet.

I agree with JMOR. I've serviced a lot of carbs on N tractors and never replace a single jet. I have 10 old Fords and they all run just fine with the old jets.

ditto what's been said.

IF you do try to remove it. I'd try a lefty of a small size to stay out ofthe parent.

Red........NO EAZY-OUT!!! they are NOT EAZY. But they BREAK EAZY.

As fer removing yer "stuck" BRASS jet, try BOILING in HOT-WATER for a couple of minutes. Brass and cast-iron have different co-efficient's of expansion. The CAST-IRON will expand faster than the soft BRASS and will allow you to remove the stuck brass jet. Use a "hollow-ground" gunsmithing screwdriver. Make a hollow-ground screwdriver by holding the "V"-wedge against the side of yer grinder. Simple, eh? ........Dell

I would stop before any more damage is done and package it up and send it to GB in MT for him to rebuild.
