resistor

I'm putting a 2-n front dist back together and I included a new resistor Several days ago I checked the voltage at the resistor and I had 6.3 going in and 2.3 coming out. Today I have 6.3 going in and 6.3 coming out. my question is was 2.3 coming out adequate? I guess I can assume the resistor is no good with 6.3 on both sides. If I did send 6.3 to the coil did I damage the coil?

esistors drop NO voltage with NO current......you made the 6.3 in/6.3 out measurement with points open & the other with points closed. All is well.

ditto what jmor said.

components devlop a voltage drop across them when current flows thru them. in an open circuit with no current flow ( points open ) no voltage drop.

All parts of a series circuit that is un grounded, will read supply volts.. assuming no blocking diodes or other silicon junctions inthe way..
