9N TRACTOR WON'T TURN OVER

My 9n tractor, converted to 12v, many years ago, won't turn over. I've tried a different battery. And I have tried jumping it.Turning the key on shows a drop from zero on the amp meter. Putting a screw driver across the solenoid terminals does nothing. Tractor ran excellent until this issue developed. Any suggestions on what to look at/for next? Thanks

I just had to remove the starter and clean the mating surface for a good ground. Try that. I had same prob you did. HTH

uh? Tom.........the 9N did NOT have a starter solenoid from the factory. Hard telling after 70-yrs what may have been re-wired. The 9N had a jiggle-pole operated starter safety switch from the bottom of the dash to the back of the dash. Surprizingly enuff, starter don't care 6V or 12V, positive or negative ground......still turns the correct direction only faster with 12V. Do NOT use wimpy ferrin maid starter cables. Use 'arry-chested 'merrican made ought (0) thick as yer thumb cable.

Do I haffta tell you to REPLACE yer starter motor cable???? .........respectfully, Dell

Take the battery cable off the solenoid battery side and try touching it to the starter stud. BE 1000% sure it is out of gear. You should get the engine to turn over by doing that plus you should get some sparking when you do that. No spark means a poor connection some place and or a burned up starter as in bad brushes or a poor starter ground
