I ordered a timing chain cover gasket for my 8N side mount, part number 8N6020C and the bolt holes do not line up.

Specifically, one bolt hole does not line up, the top one of the two directly above the governor.

These would be the two bolts screwed in from the rear of the tractor, holding the two pieces of the timing chain cover together.

Anyone else run into this?

I'm wondering if I ordered the wrong part or if they're not made correctly.

Number on the package matches the I&T manual.

Package says "Packaged in USA" and "Contents from: USA" and "8N6020C"

Must have been put together on a Friday.

Marked 6020C, but they fit the 9N/2N/early 8N, so 6020A.

At least I have other tractors they fit.

Most Tisco gaskets are made in the USA

No surprise--Tisco is junk. Bought a complete distributor--had to get the third one before had one that was not falling apart..One had shaft so tight it would not turn..

probably doesn't help much in your case, but i got two timing cover gaskets in my rebuild kit. one fit correctly and one was wrong the same way yours was. i just assumed one was for sidemounts and one was for frontmounts, since you don't specify when ordering the kit you just get both. it also came with another gasket that only fits the frontmounts, i think it was the distributor gasket.

Yes...I"ve had that happen on several different gaskets sets
from tisco...in my opinion they are junk. They do not fit well at
all and the materials they use aren"t very good.

There I go slipping on the terminology again.

Timing gear cover.

It is a side mount, and the package is marked as 6020C, not 6020A.

I'll take it out and see if it will line up with my older front mount.

Maybe it was mis-marked.

That is the area that is different from an early 8n to a late one. Maybe you got 9n6020A by mistake or was packaged wrong.

The last two I used were in gasket kits and they worked great for the front gear cover. If you got a timing chain cover, then what do you have?
