Now that's kinda funny. I got a starter for the wife's Chevy 2 months ago at NAPA. Dealer laid 2 starters, cheapest and best side by side on the counter and ask which one I wanted. He had no problem with me looking at both starter before I selected the best one. Sounds to me like you got a crook running the one you use.
I've been using the same dealer for years and am very happy with them.

| | like i said.. been sold 3x sme starter.. 3 prices based on warranty. but you know.. autozone does that on alts too.. I picked up a cheap delco 10si for a case tractor.. and it's the same alternator .. price depends on warranty... so it's not an uncommon practice I guess. and that was only a couple months ago on the alternator..
