advance and autozone did that here, it hurt the napa but it survived, people soon learned "cheap price" = cheap parts, autozero offers lifetime replacement on there starters BUT how many times do you want to crawl under that grain truck to replace that "free replacement" starter? :( |

| | Advance and Autozone also hurt the local NAPA stores, one more than the other. My closest NAPA store has morphed into a next day ordering site. They now stock only the most fastest moving parts and order just about everything else. We have no Orielys stores in my area but I would like to see one. Dean |

| | i bought a starter for my dodge ram one time from napa.. walked in asked price. they asked which unit I wanted / ie.. warranty. 3m was something like 69$ 1yr was 99$ lifetime was 129$ they had the starter setting on the counter in the box. .. they only had 1 in stock and I didn't feel like ordering one and coming back another day.. i asked which they had. same starter .. :) they just rang it up differently based on what you bought. IE.. smae piece of metal for 69$ could cost 129$ it's not like they had 3, and the expensive one 'looked better' or was built better to last longer. just a warranty / liability 'payment' issue. I took the 3m one.. ran the truck another few years.. sold it to work.. it's still running. what a ripoff.. :) |

Now that's kinda funny. I got a starter for the wife's Chevy 2 months ago at NAPA. Dealer laid 2 starters, cheapest and best side by side on the counter and ask which one I wanted. He had no problem with me looking at both starter before I selected the best one. Sounds to me like you got a crook running the one you use.
I've been using the same dealer for years and am very happy with them.

| | like i said.. been sold 3x sme starter.. 3 prices based on warranty. but you know.. autozone does that on alts too.. I picked up a cheap delco 10si for a case tractor.. and it's the same alternator .. price depends on warranty... so it's not an uncommon practice I guess. and that was only a couple months ago on the alternator.. |
