BigDanT 10-16-2012 14:54:35 96.60.16.101 Report to Moderator	I have a 2n with 3-speed with sherman step-up tranny.Had a noise coming from inside tranny and have isolated that to a bad counter shaft.I also had a little bit of tranny oil leaking from cotter key hole in center section. I thought I would try and fix this while i"m in there. Am I right in thinking there is no oil seal for the main drive shaft where it comes through the housing when you"re using a sherman? What would be the likely source of a leak from the sherman tranny? Thanks for any help, Dan [Reply]   [No Email]

Greg Peri 10-17-2012 10:29:18 129.162.1.37 Report to Moderator	Re: Help with 2n tranny in reply to BigDanT, 10-16-2012 16:44:12   Just for your info, If you plan to replace worn parts (bearings, shift collar, etc) in your Sherman, John Smith and Red Rock Manufacturing (Phil Smith) will probably have what you need. If'n you need to replace a badly worn Sherman counter-shaft, The Old Hokie can help on that too... If you replace the Sherman countershaft and find the case is a little oversize, then use some loctite bearing retaining compound at the shaft to case mating surface upon istallation to seal that from a possible leak. I did not seal mine, so I have a small seepage that makes its way out the cotter key hole below. Greg [Reply]  [No Email]
