I have recently rebuilt the carburetor on my 52 8N and now it will only run when I use the fuel bowl to gauge the fuel flow. If I open it up the full 2 turns it will flood and fuel drips from the bottom of the bowl. I am thinking that the float is stuck. Any other thoughts of suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks a lot for the responses. I plan on pulling the carburetor apart this morning and hopefully correcting the problem.

Mike;

ALL good replies here for you,......

As JMOR told you......."bad needle & seat, wrong float setting, or leaking needle seat gasket (not tight enough)."

I would also check the floats for dents,(Scrubbing on the side of the bowl),....and also check the floats for leakage,...(floats, filling with fuel,.... makes the floats inop., and setting on the bowl bottom!!)

Check the center of this pic., for float setting!!!:

Also here are my settings for the M/S TSX carbs, and how to set the carb up properly, to your engine:....

If you have more ??'s, post back here with them, or you can email me for more info., to help you get the carb running right!!!

Email is ALWAYS open at the bottom, of my posts, and or replies, on the 'Modern' side of this forum. Just push the email button there, and fill in the blanks!!

Gary :wink:

Check to be sure the float is not scrubbing the walls of the bowl--happens sometimes.

Rubber tipped float needle????? If yes you need to put a set in ti or yes it will do that. Just did a 8N carb yesterday and did not have that problem but I #1 set the float at the correct level #2 I put a set in the float needle before I button it up. To set the needle you drop it in the the seat then tap on the needle a few times. That put a set as in if your eyes are good you see a ring on the rubber tip.
