8N Worklight Retainer Clips

My grandfather's (in-laws) tractor came without the worklight rim and bulb..

I have the parts now, but installing the retainer clips is a bit of a mystery.

Does anyone have a picture of a worklight bulb held in place with the clips ?

Thanks in advance!

There is seal beam that does not fit properly and also a retainer ring that does not fit the bulb. Sound like you have one or the other wrong.

The worklights with sealed beams were of later about 1951 release. There was a conversion kit sold too. These sealed beams are a little more unusual but out there. I have a couple mounted on my N's. The have a hinged U shaped bent from wire retainer. The bottom of the U is where the hinge is and the verticals of the U clip the sealed beam in. Odd someone doesn't make these, they are a 10 times better and cheaper than the bulb version.

Yeah that is odd because it isn't true. The clips are still made and you can get them from various suppliers.

May I ask what suppliers sell the clips to retain the sealed beam in the sealed beam version of the work light? I would like to buy a few. Not refering to the incadescent bulb-reflector earlier light here, I know those clips are available

Can you post a picture of it - just took the lights off my 8n and they are not the original ones - had 4 bolts to hold the rim in place and inside were 3 or 4 metal clips in the shape of an extended { these hold the glass lens in place - is this what you are talking about?

No pics but these later work lights are sealed beams like the headlights but of lesser diameter. The retainer holds a larger one piece U shaped wire clip that hinges on one end and extende up poth sides and clamps the sealed beam unit in place. The wire clip runs across the sealed beam and up the two sides. No separate lens, talking sealed beams here.

If there is a small raised section of the sealed beam edge the clip goes over this and the two 'legs' go under the rim as I recall - if you install the sealed beam part into the rim there should be a fairly obvious way that the clip hooks over the edge of it and the two legs insert into the rim and cause it to push down into place.

Are you refering to the clips for the worklight incadescent bulb/reflector & lens assy here? They won't work on a sealed beam. The sealed beam worklight is the way to go if you have one, much better light, much lest cost and yes it is original Ford tractor optional eq. Just wish someone made the parts for them.
