Dear Sirs:I have a question. I am restoring the 1948 8N and need to know what 6V original generator and pulley diameter applies. I have the original 3 wire harness. Your response would greatly be appreciated. Thank you. Lee |

Quoting Removed, click Modern View to seeBob, so, if original, your generator should be 8N10000A, identified by a HI/LO adjustment screw on rear bearing plate, a 3rd brush which may have been removed as per an Oct, 1948 Service Bulletin, and it may have a barrel length (between the end plates) of 5 1/2 inches with some possibility of 6 1/8 inch length. Be interested in your response. Thanks.

Quoting Removed, click Modern View to see1948 is not enough info to identify which generator it would have left the factory with. It could have been 8N10000A (through serial #137684) or 8N1000B(serial #137685 thru #263843).

I went out and looked on my '48 8N and measured my 3 wire genny pulley. Jackinok is correct at 3.5 inches across the pulley.

i do not have my part books here, but look in the parts section of this site.you could probably find what you need to know there, as far as the generator goes, maybe not the pulley diameter though. for some reason 3 1/2 " comes to mind but i could be wrong.
