is there anything special i need to know/do when i put the new bushing in, besides keep it straight, don't damage it, etc? i've already got the old one driven out, just wondering about doing the new one. i cleaned up the edges lightly with a file, and cleaned out the hole with a brass bristled brush and de-greaser.

not much magic involved in that procedure... sounds like you got 90% of the hard work already handled

I had a problem with the bushing going in and the guys on the forum suggested a brake hone for the axle hole and a socket the size of the bushing for a driver, it worked very well.

I just did this about a year ago and didn"t have any problems during reassembly. Once I got it all together though, it sat all winter because we didn"t have any snow and when I began using it in the spring, it screeched really loud any time the axle pivoted, (loud enough, it could be heard across our 10 acres in the house) and it didn't matter how small the pebble was. I was just going to wait it out until it wore itself in, but couldn"t handle it any more so I pulled the kingpin out and drilled two holes opposite of each other, tapped them and put a 90 degree grease zerk in each on, so that I could grease it via the hand crank opening. Worked like a charm! The only thing special I had to do was file off most of the head of the grease zerk so they would slide past each other to get the second one started.

i used some 1/2" all thread and a bunch of large washers put a jam nut on one end and used my 1/2" impact gun to seat both of mine used a light weight oil also tried grease first but it was too thick.

Sounds like you're nearly done! Removing the old bushing is a lot harder than installing a new one. I used a rubber mallet and a block of wood to gently tap in the new bushing.
