Guys,
My 8N has been resting for about a year now. Trying to get her ready to push some snow if needed but discovered I can"t get her into a gear due to a bunch of grinding. Any suggestions? Everything was fine and normal when I parked it a year ago. Engine is smooth, starts right up, lift works great. Soundguy...sorry to hear about your trailer...what you think about my problem? PS, I have a 44 mag if you need it.

Weak clutch heck NO, but you do have the common stuck clutch and the archives are full of ways to maybe fix that problem. Block the pedal down for a few days and always do so when you park it. #2 if you have a nice open area start it in gear and yes that can be done and drive it around holding the pedal down till it frees up. #2 pull the starter off and spray the clutch with it blocked down with brake cleaner spray and turn the engine so as to get it all over the clutch. #4 split the tractor and replace the clutch but me I would do all the other things. Have an 8N sitting right now with a cement block on the pedal and it sits that way all the time

Hey guy...nice hearing from you & thanks for the advice. I remember reading about this but it didnt sink in I guess since my clutch at the time had no issues. After I installed a new tank and got her running smooth, she sat for over year under covers. 3/4 of the first crank it started right up and ran like I used it yesterday so I let her run for about an hour, cycled the lift several times, works well and holds the blade up till I let it down. So, I'll take your advice, I believe that will take care of it.
Have a nice weekend!
John
