3 of use were out mowing hunting property on tuesday with our n's. mainly ditches and edges of fields. one of my friends hit a hole, the steering wheel spun and broke 2 bones in his hand for his pinky and ring finger. now he's in a cast from elbow to finger tips. OUCH! |

| Learned years ago, when I was a boy, to keep fingers and thumb always on the same side on steering wheels, suicide knobs and cranks. When the front wheels or engine decides to yank it away from me, I just lett'er go. If you put your thumb on the opposite (in)side of the steering wheel or the suicide knob or crank, sooner or later one of them will put a big hurt on you. |

| I learned the hard way as well but I would think a suicide knob would be even worse. |

I'm thinking along the same line as you are. I don't think I'd put a suicide knob on anything without power steering. |

| | That is why when you drive any vehicle , keep your hands and fingers (thumbs) on the outside of the steering wheel. Stan

| I have a knob on my wheel for that very purpose! I cannot recall how many times it has been jerked out of my hand. |

| Yep, that steering wheel on an "N" is a place where human thumbs are not an advantage. Keep those thumbs on the same side your fingers are on. |

| Yep one has to be careful on a tractor. Bow season starts tomorrow here in Missouri, but not cold enough for me to go out yet. They have a new season here this year call alternative methods in which you can use black powder or bow or atlas or hand gun. Me I think I'll be out with my 44Mag since I have dropped more then one deer with it |

How tough are those front wheels and steering set up? I dropped my front wheel up to the axle into a narrow drain ditch my brother in law had dug - was scared to to back or forward in case something broke - ended up lifting it up with the bobcat to get it out.

| | I took the steering wheel spinner knob off my NAA for that very reason. Dropped the right front in a rut and thought I had broke my wrist when that thing came around and hit me...... Hope he heals up before season ends. We have been out getting ready for opening day for bow (9/29). We had to cut a new access road to the hunting grounds when the water way we usually used got planted with corn. Just about flipped the skid loader in a gully in the process. Caught a cut tree trunk and it pushed the right rear over the edge. Right front about half. I got the bucket down to stop it from sliding on over, but it was bit dicey there for a bit as we pondered how to get it back up on the ground. Gully was about 3 foot deep and a straight down drop off. Just wide enough for the skid loader to lay over on it's side. Dodged a bullet there. Still have some mowing to do and finished putting out stands. They logged the woods last year and we have had to re-scout and relocate everything. |

| That's what happens when someone feels they have to be in complete cntrol and grips the wheel too hard.
Sorry he got hurt!
