Forum members, Where on the dash or other wise does the light switch attach to the tractor? I am new to an 8N and want to keep it somewhat original. Also it looks like it has a negative ground. Is that what happens when being converted to 12 volts? Thought DC current was one way as far as the starter is concerned or are 8N's negative ground? Any help is appreciated! Mr. T. Minnesota |

| like said, fab a bracket under the left/right side
like the key switch, so you don't have to drill the dash.
If you put it in the dash,
pick your side depending how you back up.
I always look over my right shoulder,
so no switches on the left side of the dash for me,
as my knee will break them off when I'm turned in
the seat backing up. |

| Mr T........ALL 8N headlites were dealer installed, so where the lite switch was installed kinda depended upon the dealer's mechanic and phase of the moon. There was a "suggested" lite switch position on the left dash to the left of the ampmeter. It was NOT popular as the lite switch sucked-up water and went BAD. Unlike the 9N/2N's, the most popular position for 8N's lite switches became the lower lefthand corner of the hood along with the ignition switch outta the rain. .........delighted Dell |

| Starter will work either way. If 12 volts with an alternator, it has to be neg ground. |

| Originally I believe the 8n was positive ground. Since it was converted over to 12 volts I assumed it is negative ground. People on this site will tell you where the light switch goes. I have a NAA and mine is on the right side panel below the dash, your 8N is differnt from that I am sure. |
