I was told that I should add Marvel Mystery Oil to the the gas and oil. Is this true? If so, how much and how often? It"s a 1950 8n. Thanks.

Actually if you do a little research you will find that the company that produces MMO and other "mechanic in a bottle" makers have been repeatedly fined by state and federal government because of their lies. That have also been sued countless time but always settle out of court to keep adverse info out of the news.

I live where storage on tractors and self propelled equipment for 4-5 months is pretty common. I have worked as a mechanic here. I would never have told a customer to ad anything like ATF or MMO in their gas tank. In fact they only place I ever hear talk like this is here on the boards.

But it's your tractor. You do whatever you think is right.

Rick

BINGO!!! You hit the nail right square on the head. ATF belongs in transmissions. MMO belongs on the shelf. Neither one will do much when mixed in gasoline or added to engine oil other than removing money from your pocket.

ATF is cheaper then MMO so save your self some $$ and use ATF instead it does the same thing. Me I use it from time to time but not very often unless I am having problems like carbon build up or rust in a tank etc. I do use ATF when even I get a tractor in that is locked up or has sat a long time to free them up and un-stick stuck rings and valves

I agree with Awhtx on the amounts and benefits.
But I never use additives in my tractors.
Just keep fresh gas and clean oil them and they seem to do fine.

MMO and ATF are both "detergents" and will help keep the engine clean. They also help "stabilize" today's ethanol gas. Add a pint to the oil every time you change it and add a pint to each 5 gallon can of gas that you put in the tank.

MMO is 27% solvent.Use in a crank case at your own risk.It will ruin the o ring in a 640 gas valve.
