Hey, Still pretty new to my '48 8N. I checked my hydraulic fluid at the dipstick.. It was low (actually it didn't register). Where, O where do I add the fluid? Checked both owners and shop manual. No mention that I could find. Right next to the Position Control lever is a slotted screw/bolt. Is that the filler opening? 3Pt seems to only lift my ground driven hayrake when it feels like it so I thought adding fluid would be a place to start.Paul |

| Make sure you don't overfill with oil. It has a tendency to get into the rear wheels via the rear axle housing. I use the lower bolt on the inspection plate, right side, to gauge the level. When it starts coming out, let it run 'til it doesn't come out anymore. Bolt back in. Sometimes the dip stick registers full and then the oil still settles down and its actually over full. |

| | sup holds about 5g oil. oem was similar to a 90wt gl1 / gl3 oil.. napa 65-205 is that oil in a 90wt mineral gl1.. tsc sells a ?gl3 oil that's probably similar. you could also use a 80w90 gl4/5 oil that carries a MT1 rating that is labeled as yellow metal safe.. ( many people use an 80w90 that is not yellow metal safe.. I personally would not reccomend it ias it can start causing minor , slow, long term corrosion on the yellow metal in your N hyd pump.. though it certaintly won't cause somethng to fail anytime soon ). you can also fill with a UTF oil meeting a ford/nh M2C134spec ( you will find specs A thru D.. any will work.. A is older.. D is the latest.. your N was made before that spec.. so any is fine.. :) ) |

| | probably ambraG, spendy oil. for an N.. just about ANY utf oil would work. nowthen. if the machine has gear oil in it.. you are topping off with utf. I wouldn't purposefully mix them.. but I'd not run it without oil either... that would be the worse of the 2 evils.. :) one day you really should do a sump change and cleaning and go in with a specific oil type vs a possible mix. |

| Good idea. I've got a list of things to do on her after hay season is over. I'll add that. |

| good deal. even if it's utf and gear oil mixed, for now you should be ok.. some type of oil is better than no oil... |
