Your list says that a 12 volt coil does not need a resistor - it that
correct? I thought that a resistor was necessary.

Soundguy just tosses bogus stuff out like that to see if we're paying attention..........messing w/ the newbies. :)

Yes, it's correct.

The question concerned a round coil on an NAA. A 12v round coil on an N or an NAA does not need a resistor. Unless it is clearly marked that it needs one......in which case, buy another coil like the IC14SB Soundguy listed.

A square front coil on an N always needs the OEM ballast resistor. Doesn't matter if it's 6v or even if it's a 12v coil.

did i stutter?


a napa ic14sb is a 12v native coil.. primary resistance is fine for 12v.

a '12v' coil that needs a resistor is a 6v coil.

a 6v coil plus the appropriate resistor can be run on 12v.

it's printed that way for a reason....

points,cap,rotor, etc.. are the same on side mount 8n, naa, 00/01 and up thru 64 4 cyl models.

ANY of the premium points listed below are fine .. even the basic echlin / napa.
BW are fine too.. just about anything other than tisco.. :)
