Hey everyone,I purchased an electronic ignition for my 8n (side mount distributor) and the unit that I received will not fit on my distributor, but I have verified that it is the correct part for my tractor, meaning that somewhere down the line, someone put a different distributor on the tractor. I"m wondering if anyone knows which different distributors could have been used, and where I should be able to find a part number on the distributor to find out exactly what it is. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Paul |

| | Here"s what you want, I had the same issues with mine, but the little metal tag saying Prestolite was broken off so I did the same hours of searching until someone, JMOR I think, was able to confirm what I had. It"s the 3AUT4U1 http://www.hot-spark.com/1-Hot-Spark-Agricultural-Engine-Electronic-Ignition.htm |

Thanks, I couldn't read the tag so I was hoping someone knew what it said.
I couldn't find a part number anywhere on that distributor and I've been looking online for hours, and I cannot find a reference that would tell me what the part number would be. Anybody else have an 8n with one of these distributors and know what the part number is?[/quote]I don't think a P/N matters. Prestoilte made replacement distributors for many engines, same top, different lower housing & shafts/gears. As I said, call Pertronix and ask for Paul or Carl. Toll free number. |
