What is an exceptable oil pressure? just changed oil and gauage is reading 20psi at idle and gos to about 25psi at high rpm with no load. Will the pressure change with a load? Just curious. |

| Pressure changes, at a given viscosity, with engine speed and temperature. Operating temperature and idleing are usually when readings are interpreted. 20 psi idleing at operating temperature is good. |

| | I think your numbers are great. As John points out, there is a lot of range on these engines, which depends on their history. You'll probably see somewhat lower readings after the engine has worked hard for a few hours. Colin, MN |

| That is pretty good oil pressure. The real test of how tight the engine is would be to work the tractor hard for a couple of hours in the hot summer and then check the running and idle oil temperature. For a tractor in decent shape I would expect 20+ running and 15+ at idle after running hard for several hours. That is with 15w-40 motor oil. Lower oil pressure does not mean it is time to rebuild the engine. I ran a 1949 8N hard with 10 pounds of running pressure and 5 pounds of idle pressure for 20 years. I did not find any damage when I finally tore it down to rebuild. |

| While that set of numbers are not super good they are not all that bad either., These old tractor run just fine with as low as 5PSI. Also depends on what oil you use. A straight weight tends to hold better pressure then a muti weight oil does |
