I use a 5 ft. King Cutter with no problems, even in heavy grass, on an 8N. The 9N has to huff and puff a bit in the same material but does the job. Yea, they are getting pricey, just like everything else. Ever price a finish mower? Yikes. Even the bad ones seem to command too much.

| | I've got a 5' Howse that has served my 9N well for > 20 years now. I've welded up a few cracks but the gearbox and universals are still OEM. 5' matches the wheelbase and a 6' would bog the motor. |

Thanks for the input. The mowers around here are very pricey. A four foot second hand mower is about $750.00.

yikes. I buy used 5' mowers on craigslist for 100-250$ all the time. usually need a seal or a lil welding then they are good to go..

I've seen 6 foot bush hogs used on 8N's but wouldn't recommend it,stick with the 5 foot and you and the tractor will be happy.

Dunno about the maximum. I can tell you the optimum though. 5' light duty. Works great behind an N.
