| The first time I plowed this patch, it was ROUGH! Killed off the sod with glyphosate. Turned the dead sod under in 1st gear. Drilled in buckwheat, after the frost killed it I was able to turn it under in 2nd gear. The plow is a Ferguson 14-2 with no tailwheel, my tires are not loaded. Ground moisture really affects the plowing, too.

| I have silt loam soil here in the Middle West, and the 11 acre field had corn on it last year. Here's a video of me plowing it down with the 8N and a 2-14. Note that I chose to not plow in lands (which would have been much faster, as I was trying my best to get the field as level as possible (and it did turn out really nice, so I think it was worth it).

| ive pulled one for years without any weight, but it would help . I nearly always disc first though, and dont plow overly deep,7-8 " max.if your really sinking your plow in youll have a anchor with 2-14's. |

| As Bruce said. You'd better add some ballast to her too - wheel weights or fluid in your tires. Measure the plow before you buy it. 2-14" are all you can pull. Forget about 2-16s

| I here about 2-16s all the time, but I remember our JD A blew a tire and it took a good while for us to get someone out to replace it. I plowed for several days pulling a 2-16 tag along with a 48N in Nebraska. (1952 or 1953) I don't remember it struggling with it at all, but was happy to get the A back because it was a bit faster. I also plowed with a borrowed 2-16 3PT one year. I'm sure I couldn't do the in clay soils of SC, and I wouldn't buy anything bigger than 2-14, just commenting. |

| I agree Jim, It's all about your soil. In our rocky, claey loam soil in central MN the 2N I had would not effectively pull 2-14s. Good engine, wheel weights, plow set up good, I could get it through the ground in first gear but so slow it didn't throw the furrow over well and was mostly a failure. When I found a 1-16" it was a marvelous combo and I could scoot right along in second - rocks, roots, sod, clay and all. Didn't beat me or the tractor so hard either. It might have pulled 2-12s too but I never found one. Lot of guys do pull 2-14s or in some places yes even 2-16s. |

| They were designed for 2/14's on the 3 pt.
Not sure it would do so well with a trailer/trip plow. Although I've never tried it. |

| | That's what it was designed to pull. Just make sure you know how to adjust the plow & that the tractor is running good. |
