Anybody tried one of these? I have 20-30 old
circular blades around here I'd love to get more
life out of, but not sure this thing would work.

Says it comes w/ a diamond sharpening wheel.

Bingo! Maybe a cheap limited purpose gadget ain't such a bad idea  For a description of how to adjust the tooth angle download and read the manual. The motor mount swivels but my guess is he will never need that functionality. I doubt Jeff expects to sharpen 30" cordwood saw blades or planer blades with it.

See my post above. All you are doing is lightly dressing the carbide tip. If it does three blades it pays for itself. My guess is it will do a lot more than three before you need a new wheel - a whole lot more....

I have a drill doctor too(can't remember the model).
Makes quick work of my drill bits. As you say, those
saw blades are a lot pricier than my drill bits.

I've never had power problems grinding carbide - maybe you should try a little slower feed rate. I've got a Drill Doctor 750 (with $20 diamond wheel) that will grind a carbide twist drill to a stub on far far less than 1/2 HP. My 6" (1/2 HP) Harbor Freight carbide grinder doesn't loose a single RPM on cemented carbide lathe bits. If your $1000 Belsaw can't handle a 10" circular saw blade I'd say it needs attention.....

The Belsaw cost 250.00 back when the dollar was worth something. Its so old it has a US Delco motor on it.Sharpening a lathe bit is easy compared to a 40 tooth carbide saw blade.

Depends on where you shop. My tool grinder cost $100 and diamond wheels start at about $30 depending on size and shape. He's sharpening circular saw blades - all you need is a cheap grinder and a decent indexing jig. I could build one for $50 out of shop scrap and a cheap 4" angle grinder but HF beat me to it.

I didn't think about the motor being under-powered, that is a point to consider. I wondered if the little grinding wheel would last through only 1 or 2 blades.

Should work fine - it's a simple procedure and all you need is a locating jig and a grinding wheel.
