Topic: 9n camshaft upgrade

Im rebuilding a 41 model 9n and wanting to upgrade the cam shaft and cam gear gear to the bolt on type. anyone done this before. Do I need to use the thrust washer. and where can I find the square bolt retainer for the the bolts. Thanks for any info |

| I would mic out a used cam to check lobe height before installing it . I have seen cams that looked good to the eye but had .090 worn off a lobe .
Even a cheap caliper would help , a few thousands would be acceptable .
There is a lot of talk about the zinc levels in modern oil but these old motors have a low valve spring pressure so there is not a lot of lifter pressure on the lobe like a souped up high reving V8 .
A retainer ring would be nice but a flat washer and blue loctite will do just as good . |

| Quoting Removed, click Modern View to seethrust washer not absolutely necessary.....many running without them, but good if you can get one. Both items will likely have to be found through used parts operations. |
