New ignition set, plugs, battery charge and oil in cylinders, it started on the first turn. Thanks to Old, Bruce and H Cooke. Maybe I would have gotten there on my own but it is great to have advice and encouragement from guys like you on this forum. |

| That is why we ARE here to help when we can and at times get help when we have a problem. So was the problem in fact a poor spark???????????? |

| Yes; contact points in very bad shape. It looks like I might have left the key on at some time while it was being stored. |

| Yep key on points closed you have burned up points and some times even a mess with the plastic on the bumper part melting. Even seen points burned so bad as to have the point arm melt. And if it has been switched to 12 volts I have even seen a coil explode. I learned that one the hard way and when one explodes it sounds like a shot gun going off. Boy what a ,mess it made under the hood of that VW bug I had |
