TOH's NAA Hyd pump conversion status?

TOH: you were working on a bolt-on conversion for the NAA awhile ago.

Any updates on progress?

My old vane pump is still working, but for how much longer I do not know...

I have them - they work great and I have two orders in the works right now. Email if you are not in a rush.

Outstanding!...email on the way....

For anyone wondering how it works here's what's "inside the box". Intermediate drive shaft mounted on two ball bearings inside an aluminum housing that adapts the OEM camshaft gear and housing to a standard SAE-AA two bolt flange pump.

TOH,
Good job. I too have an NAA. Rebuilt my old pump a few years back and had the top cover off 4 times. Each time there is dirt in the sump. I wipe it out, spotless, but the dirt seems to get into sump via the lift arms and the top link.

Could you install an oil filter on your suction line? My backhoe has an oil filter on the suction side. If I ever need another pump, you'll be hearing from me.

Thank you George. Yes - once you get control of the hydraulic line connections a filter is easy to do. For inline suction side applications I use a standard filter head and a spin on cartrdige with a 100 mesh stainless steel tank strainer inside. It could easily be mounted directly below the NAA pump. Putting a true 10u filtration on the suction side is pretty restrictive. I have done that and use a 15 PSI bypass head to prevent starving the pump but of course that sort of defeats the finer filter. You really need to get at the return side - doable but a lot more complicated plumbing = $$$$.

TOH,
Thanks, you may the right idea, screen filter. I've always been worried if I cut my hard lines to my upgraded piston pump, I would never find replacement lines.

Replacement lines are only a worry if you want to reconnect that POS proprietary pump. And even then you can reattach the cut off sections.
