friend just bought a 8n and bought a 5 foot bush hog Saturday. when he lifts the bush hog it raises fine but makes a knocking sound when the lift starts upand as long as pressure on the arms. any thoughts appreicated

sounds like the pump is either wore out or has alot of wear on it, might not do it as bad on lighter implements

as that scotch yoke pump wears, it knocks, the more it wears and the heavier the load the louder it knocks.

worry more when it stops knocking...

use it... it's already wore out.. once it goes completely, then rebuild it. same amount of work now or them.. might as well get some use out of it and do it 'then' 'then' might be 10ys down the road of light use.. who knows...

Draining and cleaning the hydraulic system and putting in new 90 wt oil may improve it's performance and quiet the knocking for a while.
