... have a 39 9n and 52 8n.... ordered a IT FO-4 book today.... gonna read and read.... but, may need some help... Dell, Bruce, Old... or anyone else... any way I can tell you the symptoms and you can give me a heads up?? I have learned a ton reading this forum... and I follow instruction well, and have a general working knowledge of mechanics...
... both machines are OOC... due to simple little garbage....

There are 2 reason I am on Y-T. #1 and I do it more then the other is to help people and I always have my e-mail open just in case some one wants one on one help or even a phone call type help. #2 reason I am on here is to get help when I am not sure but I do mess with almost any brand and year of tractor and have run into some fun when I get one of the odd ball tractor in like I have done this year Like a
Russian tractor and boy that was fun figuring out how to fix it

Speaking of troubles...I have a '51 8n that runs like a top for about two hours and then seems to spit and sputter and then stop. After it sits for about ten minutes it will start right up and run for another 10 minutes before it stops again., Have to let it sit for a couple of hours before it will run again. Any ideas...dirty carb?

Either the fuel tank vent has become plugged, or the ignition coil is over-heating and needs replaced. Since it runs for 2 hours before giving trouble the first time, I am leaning towards the ignition coil.

Thanks, been reading the forum and I tend to agree with you. From Dell, the spark-meister's previous posts seems to agree. Tractor has side mount distributor in a 6 volt system. We cleaned all of the screens so coil seems to be the next logical choice. Thanks again.
