A friend called me because he new I already had a couple of Ford tractors. He had received this lot of goodies from his dad's estate. Both tractors ran when unloaded from the trailer. But after sitting a year and a half neither had spark.Long story short..he did not want mess with getting them fixed and asked if I wanted them.I made him an offer on everything and he took it. 2 grand for the whole package, what do ya think, good deal or not???I'm from central Indiana and around here a decent 9N will go for at least 1250, more often closer to 1750. A good 8n will bring 1500 to 2500,one with new clothes ..up to 3500. I already have the 9n running, just needed points cleaned up and some rewiring. One last thing can anyone ID these plows for me? Thanks Dan

oops...pics didn't go first time..

in VERY conservative money I see 3000$ of stuff..

600$ of implements.. and 2400$ of tractors.

like I said.. VERY conservative.

probably easilly get 3550$ if they could be made to run, as they sit / pictured..

Got the 9n running, purring like kitten, only problem so far with it is I can't get the PTO lever to engage, acts like it's bond up on something. Any ideas on what to look for or check, do I need to split the housings or can I work on this with the lift cover off? Also, I know zip about the Sherman trannny, could this have something to do with it? It is in the forward position. Thanks Dan

Dan.......you ask........"I know zip about the Sherman trannny, could this have something to do with it? It is in the forward position"......NO, Sherman has 'nuttin' to do with yer PTO not working.

All you gotta to is LIFT the 6"-roundy PTO shifter plate off'n the side of the diffy behind yer left heel. You do NOT hafft split yer tractor ...or... remove the top cover yer butt-buckett sets on.

Recommend you squander $25 (cheap) fer the I&T FO-4 manual. It even has pictures fer the reading challenged .......Dell

Dell, I have the fo-4 manual it don't say squat about what could cause the shifter rail to not be allowed to move foward. I have taken the inspection cover off and removed PTO shaft. The shifter lever is attched to the rail and moves freely. Whatever is causing the rail not to move is in the shifter unit, can a bad interlock ball or spring cause this type of problem?

Dont buy any lottery tickets you have used up all your good luck on this deal. You got a real deal in MHO.

Dan.......you ask......"can a bad interlock ball or spring cause this type of problem?".......sorry, I don't know. My eyeballs fail trying to look thru the telephone wires. (grin) You do know iff'n you un-shift yer PTO shifter, yer 3-point hydraulic lift will NOT lift, don't you? ........HTH, Dell

'51 8n...no I haven't checked on the SN# yet. I noticed the radius rods too, just figured they were replacements. A lot of crud on block, might have clean off bottom of pump housing and check for date stamp. Dan

Not sure Dan, you might have gotten taken there.
I can help you out tho, just send me you're address and I'll come pick 'em up and give you your money back!

Looks like a great deal to me!

They look to be honest tractors I think you did okay, next question is this guy still a friend? Will he be when he comes off the either?

Looks like you fell into a honey pot, Dan. From the pics the tractors look like they were well cared for & stored under cover.

The plow looks like a later Ferguson that someone as added the throw-away razor points on. Any tags on the A-frame?

Jeff

Jeff, no tags left, I can see where there was one but it's gone now. If you think it is a ferguson I will do some reseach to see if I can get some pics. I also have a single bottom plow that can with the deal. don't know why that pic didn't load..I'll try it again later.
One last thing that came with this deal was extra hat rim. It's in real good shape but the valve stem hole looks to be a little enlarged..anybody know what's the correct size for that? Thanks Dan

The later Ferguson plow would have the tag on one of the vertical A-frame bars. Where was the missing tag on yours?

I've never measured the valve opening on my hat rims

Jeff

Jeff, Looks like the tag was on the horizontal arm that angles from front to back. I looked online at some Ferguson plows and they do look like mine, havn't figured out which model yet though.
