I was given this mower last fall, fixed a few things, tuned it up, and it works well. I found the owner's manual online, but could someone tell me the years these were made, and are they still around being used. Thank you. Brian

My operators manual, says "copyrighted in 1950".

Check the op manual. there should be an 8 3/4 inch extension in lift arms. Without it, if you lift to high, the PTO shaft might have problems.
The top link should also attach to a special peice, Behind and below the draft control hookup. This part locks out the draft control, and causes the sliding top link to slide into "transport position".
Most are just used for mowing roadside or ditches and have been made obsolete by "Haybines".
I will be rebuiding one for that purpose and show.

Hey Ultra

I have a Ford 501 Sickel Mower I want to mount on my Jub. What Bracket Hole should I use for the top link? No manual!

Thanks: (Doc)

I can't tell you Doc.
They wont let me post a link to this site but type in the address of the site in the picture.
Once there click on manuals near the top of the page. Then click on Index of manuals, then click on mowers. They have the complete owners/operators manual for the 501 stored there.
Should help you.

(quoted from post at 21:30:56 05/01/12) Just out of curiosity, how thick of grass/brush etc. can these sickle mowers cut?

They can cut any type of grass or hay crop if sharp and maintained. BUT no brush.

Ebay listing for the adapter.

Thanks ultra dog. I gave my original 8 3/4 inch to a guy in Penn. plus the top link connector. Sister junked Dads old mower and thought I'd never get another, however found one in friends back 40. It also lacks top link "slide-transport bar" to top link. Could frabicate all but might consider puschase. Send e-mail

The picture on craiglist appears to be a reproduction as there is no indication of the "two set bolt holes" for turning in to lock the attachment from coming up and making the attachment solid to the differential.
Look at peices part #'s 141244 (bracket-upper-link) and 91474s (set screw-3/8-16-1 1/2)
The lift arm bracket extensions are part #142712

What are you talking about? Nobody posted a link to Craigslist. If you are talking about the one on eBay, that is an original top link bracket for a Dearborn sickle bar mower. It is laying upside down and the set screws appear to be missing. There are no reproductions of these brackets made.

I have a dearborn model 14-59 7ft sicklebar mower I want to sell. It is complete with all mounting brackets, all you have to do is put it on and mow. And it mows very well.
