'51 8N Lift Cover

I was having trouble lifting my disc and tried to diagnose the problem using advice here. Took off the right side hydraulic cover and did not see a large leak or fluid flow from the top cover. When I pushed the control rod forward, the lift arms raised an additional several inches. I ordered Zane's adjustment jig, new lift cylinder and NAA piston and pressure relief valve as I figure if I was going to go to the trouble of tearing this down, I'd be prepared to replace what was needed. Today I pulled the top cover and found the lift cylinder to be in excellent shape...almost new looking. The cam pin is worn nearly in half and needs replacing. I noticed the existing cylinder does not have the clearance shoulder ground in it (like the new one I got from GVT) and am wondering if that is limiting lift travel? Anyone have experience with this?

Yes, I'm pretty sure the existing one is not the original...it's in too good shape to be 60 yrs old. The two pics posted show the old one in place and the new one I just purchased with the relief ground in it.
