The Hamilton Rifle Co. (born of the Plymouth Windmill Co. in Michigan) made an all-metal "skeleton rifle" starting in 1897, specifically for the boys' market. It was the Hamilton Model 7 and sold for about $1. It was the first of what would eventually become 14 models of Hamilton boys' rifles. It only lasted a few years, because rifle buyers wanted a wood buttstock. Today, examples of the Model 7 are rare, and they bring several hundred dollars when they show up at gun shows or online auctions.
