Question for you 8n'ers

I have a 1950 8N side mount dist.
my alt. was not charging my battery

I took my alt. off, took it to Orielys, checked OK
the previous owner, or someone , had the wires lookiing like a bird nest, I took all that out, run new one's using the one wire alt. job per link below

http://www.myfordtractors.com/12volt04.shtml

still no charging,

I thought about trying the 3 wire tomorrow
I noticed on the 3 wire chart alt. terminal B and terminal 2, go to the same place
Couldn't You, just run a jumper from 2 to B instead of the long run, below the ign. switch, or am I missing something

looks good to Me, thanks

I don't mean to jump in but were can I get the pug that you have
there? By plug i meant the part that the 2 wires com out of. And
what kind of diode do I need to get? I am going to make mine into
this set up now.

Yes, very common to connect the #2 regulator sense wire directly to the BAT stud on the alt rear.

No need to replace that "one wire" alternator if you want the lower excite rpm of a 3 wire alt.
Just wire the 1 wire alt as a 3 wire unit, it will work fine as a 3 wire alternator. I have done that several times as instructed by the 1 wire alternator builder.
The regulator plug is avalible at most any auto parts store for $2-$3, usually called a GM alternator repair plug.
